Domaine Tissot was founded in 1962 by André and Mireille Tissot in Montigny-lès-Arsures, north of Arbois in the Jura. The story begins in 1956 when Maurice Tissot planted vines for his sons on former cow pastures—starting with just 2 hectares. André and Mireille grew holdings to 16 hectares; today Stéphane Tissot (first vintage 1989, at age 19) farms approximately 50 hectares. Certified organic (Ecocert) since 1999 and biodynamic (Demeter) since 2004—Stéphane was one of the first in the Jura to convert, influenced by meeting Nady Foucault at Clos Rougeard. Patchwork is a multi-vineyard blend from five different sites, approximately 60% clay-dominant and 40% limestone-dominant soils, vines 20-50 years old. Manual harvest, indigenous yeast, 12 months in oak (10% new), bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2023 Patchwork Chardonnay was produced with grapes from clay (60%) and limestone (40%) soils and aged in barrel for one year. 2023 was also warm, but the wine is fresher than the 2022, partially because of the good yields that produced fine-boned musts. The idea is to show the Jura, which is a blend of terroirs, in a white that is tasty, balanced and with a sense of ripe fruit. Fermentation of Chardonnay is increasingly difficult in warm vintages like 2022 and 2023, while Savagnin has easier fermentations." -Luis Gutiérrez
