Les Bottes Rouges is the Jura project of Jean-Baptiste Menigoz, a one-time schoolteacher turned organic-biodynamic vigneron who apprenticed with Jura legend Stephane Tissot. "Face B" is his Cotes du Jura Savagnin, made in the fresh, topped-up (ouille) style rather than the oxidative one, which means it shows the grape's bright, mineral, almost saline side rather than the nutty sherry-like character. It's a great gateway into Savagnin for the curious, and a treat for those who already know the grape. Low-intervention and full of energy. Serve chilled and let it open up.
