Founded by Eric Railsback and Justin Willett, Lieu Dit focuses on Loire Valley varieties grown in Santa Barbara County. Their Cabernet Franc comes from sandy, well-drained soils in the Santa Ynez Valley, where the long growing season and cool nights help preserve freshness and lift.

The 2022 vintage shows off the variety’s best traits: aromas of red currant, raspberry, bell pepper, and wild herbs, with a hint of graphite and earth. On the palate, it’s light to medium-bodied, with bright acidity, soft tannins, and a clean, dry finish. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral oak, the winemaking is minimal to let the grape and site speak clearly.

This is a versatile, chillable red that’s perfect with roast chicken, lentil stew, grilled vegetables—or just sipping on a warm evening. Fans of Chinon or Saumur will feel right at home, but it’s all California in tone and vibe.
