Florent Cosme is one of the rising stars of Vouvray, crafting site-specific Chenin Blanc with a focus on purity and balance. Grosse Pierre, named for the large limestone rocks in the vineyard, is sourced from old vines on clay-limestone soils, giving it both richness and precision. The 2023 vintage, marked by fresh acidity and excellent ripeness, highlights the layered complexity that makes Vouvray so compelling.

Golden apple, pear, and Meyer lemon lead, with hints of honeysuckle, wet stone, and subtle spice from lees aging. The palate is both taut and gently rounded, with bright acidity carrying through a long, mineral-laced finish. Equally at home with seafood, roast chicken, or creamy cheeses, this is a beautifully expressive Vouvray that will evolve gracefully over the next few years.

More about Florent Cosme

Florent Cosme took over old-vine parcels on the Première Côte of Vouvray in 2010, working them biodynamically while finishing oenology school and eventually departing from Vincent Carême's operation to focus on his own four hectares. His 100% Chenin Blancs—fermented with indigenous yeasts, never malolactic—are proof that Vouvray's future is bright.
