From one of Bordeaux's most esteemed appellations, Château Gloria’s 2018 Saint-Julien showcases the power and finesse that define the region. This wine reflects the meticulous craftsmanship of the estate, with a perfect balance of fruit, structure, and complexity.

The nose is a captivating blend of ripe blackcurrants, cassis, and a touch of graphite, with hints of tobacco and cedar that add depth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet elegant, with dark berry flavors complemented by well-integrated tannins and subtle nuances of spice and oak. The acidity lifts the wine, providing freshness and balance, while the finish is long and polished, revealing lingering notes of tobacco and earthy richness.

This Saint-Julien pairs beautifully with roasted meats, lamb, or a classic beef Wellington, making it ideal for both special occasions and long-term aging in the cellar. The 2018 vintage promises to evolve gracefully over time, rewarding those who choose to cellar it.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP The 2018 Gloria is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up expressive notions of warm red and black currants, black cherries and boysenberries with hints of spice cake, cedar chest, pencil lead and menthol. Full-bodied with a firm texture of ripe, grainy tannins, it has a lively line cutting through the dense, savory layers, finishing on a lingering spicy note.

Decanter

D Gloria is fast becoming one of the most exciting insider wines of the entire Bordeaux region, and that rare species of a non-classified St-Julien. The fruit here is brambly, textured and autumnal, and again the alcohol seems generous but balanced, with plenty of St-Julien finesse. It has a feeling of not needing to go too far to convince anyone. This is some austerity here but there's a bounce to the tannins through the mid-palate, while the alcohol is clearly there but not dominant, helped I would expect by relatively generous yields of 46hl/ha. Very good quality.
