Enzo Tiezzi’s Vigna Soccorso is a traditionally made Brunello from a vineyard just outside the town of Montalcino, planted on galestro-rich soils at higher elevation. This site tends to produce cooler, more structured wines, and in the steady 2019 vintage, that shows clearly.

The wine opens with red cherry, dried rose, and a touch of tobacco, followed by savory notes of leather and herbs. The tannins are firm but not aggressive, balanced by bright acidity that gives the wine lift and focus. It’s aged in large Slavonian oak casks, with no flash—just classic, slow Brunello aging.

This isn’t a showy Brunello. It’s a straightforward, age-worthy bottle made with a light hand and a nod to tradition. Drink it with grilled meats, mushroom dishes, or firm cheeses—and if you have the patience, it should develop well over the next decade or more.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 93
"A minty freshness opens the stage as the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Soccorso Riserva emerges with a bouquet of black cherries, dried flowers, pipe tobacco, crushed rocks and smoke. This is cool-toned and racy with soft textures and depths of mineral-infused red berry fruit aromas that drench the palate with youthful tension. Edgy tannins resonate as hints of cocoa and tart blackberry linger through the long and staining finale." -Vinous
