"Inky purple. Boysenberry syrup and vanilla on the nose, with candied licorice adding complexity. Sweet dark berry flavors are gently supported by soft tannins and gain energy from a cracked pepper note. There's decent restraint to the sweet finishing flavors of dark fruits and floral pastille. Lush-verging-on-heavy, but in the context of this lineup the flavors offer clarity." -Josh Raynolds

"The 2006 Shiraz “Blue Eyed Boy” is predominantly Padthaway fruit. Purple-colored, it has an intense aromatic display of smoke, violets, mulberry, blueberry, and chocolate. This leads to a full-bodied, plush, wine with layers of ripe, spicy black fruits, excellent focus and delineation. The tannins are well-concealed but this wine has enough stuffing to evolve for 6-8 years. Drink it through 2025." -Jay S Miller

"Rich and ripe, with a powerful blast of blackberry, licorice and smoky spice flavors rocketing through the long finish against highly polished tannins. Yet somehow this strikes a deft balance. Needs some roast meat to tame it."
