"I wouldn’t know where else in the world to look for wines that deliver such complexity, identity and polish at such an accessible price point. How they do it, I don’t know. Winemaking is intentionally hands-off: native fermentations followed by brief 10-month élevage in neutral oak. If it works, it works, and here? It works. The results are strikingly pure and true. Dunites is one of the most impressive up-and-coming producers in California today." - Vinous Media, August 2025

We are excited to welcome one of our favorite producers from California's Central Coast, Dunites, to our mezzanine for a seminar on this beautiful region and the incredible elegance that it can produce. Tyler Eck, cofounder and winemaker along with his wife Rachel, will join us to present the Dunites lineup and share his story.

Dunites is a small wine brand named after an eclectic group of 1930s metropolitan refugees known as the Dunites who settled the beach dunes of San Luis Obispo County.

Dunites Wine Co. draws inspiration for this project from the remote beauty of the coastal dunes and the progressive ambition of the Dunites to aspire towards a clear goal; to produce pure and elegant wines that respect the coastal influence of vineyard sites located on the uplifted seafloor and ancient sand dunes of the San Luis Obispo Coast. Combining diverse vineyard sites and meticulous farming with traditional techniques in the cellar allows for these small production wines to express the distinct characteristics of their sites. The vineyards they choose to work with are farmed organically or biodynamically, including the 2.5 acre Hi Kite Vineyard, which they lease and farm themselves. The husband/wife team of Rachel and Tyler Eck combine their experiences to craft these wines.

The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit will be extended to ticket holders for a future purchase. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Thursday, November 13 for this special evening.

Second Bite at the Apple: Picq Chablis 2022s

Now, if you're new to these newsletters, you might not know what all the fuss is about. The TL;DR is that the Picq family is among Chablis' great producers -- but one that has no grand cru vineyards, no blockbuster collectibles, and that therefore has stayed outside the field of vision of international collectors.
