Voliero is the passion project of Andrea Cortonesi, the acclaimed winemaker behind Uccelliera, offering a more delicate and ethereal expression of Brunello. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards on Montalcino’s northern slopes, Voliero’s wines emphasize finesse over power, with bright aromatics and fine-grained tannins. The 2020 vintage, shaped by a warm yet well-balanced growing season, delivers exceptional clarity and structure, making for an especially elegant Brunello.
Vibrant red cherry, wild raspberry, and dried rose petals lead the way, followed by subtle notes of anise, forest floor, and a touch of spice. The tannins are firm yet silky, allowing the wine to remain lifted and graceful, while fresh acidity gives it a long, mineral-driven finish. Compared to the more structured and concentrated Uccelliera, Voliero offers a lighter, more perfumed take on Brunello, showcasing the grape’s purity and energy.
This is a Brunello that shines with classic pairings like bistecca Fiorentina, truffle risotto, or aged pecorino. While already expressive with some air, it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years, gaining even more complexity and depth.
