Freedom Hill Vineyard is one of the Willamette Valley’s great sites—planted on marine sedimentary soils in the Coast Range foothills, it consistently produces Chardonnays of breadth, savory depth, and age-worthy structure. In the 2023 vintage, Walter Scott captures all of that, but with extra freshness and aromatic lift.
The wine opens with yellow apple, lemon oil, chamomile, and hazelnut, supported by a firm mineral spine and broad mid-palate. It sees aging in mostly neutral oak, adding subtle texture without overshadowing the purity of the fruit. The finish is long, saline, and quietly powerful.
It’s the broadest and most structured of Walter Scott’s single-vineyard Chardonnays—a bottle for the cellar, the table, or both. Serve with roasted poultry, buttery seafood, or richer vegetable dishes.
