Seth Morgen Long is on a mission to prove that Oregon can make world-class Chardonnay—and this bottle is Exhibit A. Sourced from top vineyards across the Willamette Valley and made with minimal intervention, the 2023 is all about purity, texture, and place.

It opens with bright citrus and orchard fruit—lemon curd, green apple, pear—layered over chalky minerality and a whisper of oak. There’s richness here, but it’s reined in by electric acidity and a sleek, saline finish. Think white Burgundy in an Oregon accent: refined, age-worthy, but totally drinkable right now.

Pair it with roast chicken, seafood pastas, or nothing but a good glass and a quiet night. This is serious Chardonnay—but without the seriousness.

Vinification
Nearly every lot was crushed before pressing and the must browned for 6-24 hours before a sulfur addition. Fermentation began in stainless steel with ambient yeasts before lots were transferred with solids to a mix of French oak puncheons, barrels and steel. Racked to stainless with fine lees after one year in oak, the final blend is from 28% new, 33% second fill, 45% third and fourth fill, and 8% steel. After six months in stainless, the 2022 Willamette Valley Chardonnay was bottled 3/19/24 unfined/unfiltered."
Aging
The wine was aged one year 92% in oak, 28% new, 33% second fill, 45% third and fourth fill, and 8% steel. And an additional 6 months in stainless steel tank prior to bottling
