A Puligny grower's take on Meursault's most quietly thrilling lieu-dit. Philippe Chavy works just over eight hectares across Puligny, Saint-Aubin, and Meursault, with parcels inherited from both sides of the family — his mother's Ropiteau roots run through Meursault. Les Narvaux is the prized village vineyard high above town, perched directly above the legendary Premier Crus of Genevrières and Poruzots on a steep, rocky slope of pure limestone bedrock. Farming is plough-worked and herbicide-free, with attention paid to the lunar calendar. The 2022 is the kind of Meursault village that reads as Premier Cru in everything but name: classic hazelnut richness welded to a high-toned, electric, almost saline minerality that comes only from these shallow soils.
