I am not always a fan of Riservas, as I don’t think the wines always deliver something meaningfully better than the non-Riserva versions, but that clearly does not apply here. A statuesque, towering Barolo, Rinaldi's 2019 Riserva dazzles from start to finish. Cannubi signatures are amplified to the maximum, but not distorted. "Only made in the best vintages, the Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2019 Barolo Riserva Cannubi reveals medium-rich concentration with more color intensity than is typical of this vintage. Nebbiolo from 2019 tends to lean into purple and dark fruits and more generous flavors. Fruit comes from the highest part of the Cannubi Boschis block, with sandy soils at 300 meters in elevation. This Riserva is aged in oak for 42 months. Only 3,300 bottles are made from this half-hectare plot." -Monica Larner

Rinaldi's Cannubbio Barolo is mainly sourced from their 2.2 hectare piece of Cannubi Boschis, the cru that surrounds their winery. that is blended with their .6 hectare parcel in the Cannubi cru.
Orientation
South / Southeast.
Soil
Sandy, white marl rich in silica.
Viticulture
Guyot training. Harvested in the first week of October. Part of their pracel in Cannubi Boschis was planted in 1967 and part in 1990. Their parcel in Cannubi was planted in 2016.
Vinification
Fermented in stainless steel for 25-30 days with automatic remontage.
Aging
Aged in 50 HL Slavonian oak casks for at least three years followed by at least six months in the bottle before release.
