Birichino is a young-ish project favoring old vineyards, Old World influence, and minimal intervention. This Pinot Noir comes from a vineyard in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains, as well as a few limestone-rich, high-elevation plots that impart a touch of structure and some darker fruit. Wine Advocate says “A poised and pretty nose of red and black fruits with woody, balsamic accents is followed by an elegantly lush palate, concluding with a fresh, balanced finish.”

"Once again, the 2024 Pinot Noir Saint Georges presents one of the best Pinot Noir value propositions in the Central Coast. A poised and pretty nose of red and black fruits with woody, balsamic accents is followed by an elegantly lush palate, concluding with a fresh, balanced finish." -Matthew Luczy

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

The majority of the fruit for this bottling comes from George Besson's decades-old Pinot Noir, planted at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Two sites from the higher-elevation limestone soils of the Gabilan Range (Rodnick and Boer) were used to supplement the blend, providing darker fruit and structure to the elegant and floral Besson Pinot. The wine was fermented naturally with roughly one-third stem inclusion and matured for 10-months in neutral barrels and puncheons. Bottled unfined/unfiltered.
