From the vineyard that gives Nuits-Saint-Georges its name, Les Saint-Georges is widely considered the appellation's greatest site—a strong candidate for Grand Cru elevation. The Forey family has held vines here since the 1840s. Their winemaking is resolutely traditional: whole clusters, long maceration, and aging in older oak. Forey controls one-fifth of a hectare in this lieu-dit, perhaps the finest in the entire appellation. The vines were planted in 1933. Old vines are wonderful but that factor makes for very tiny production which makes this one of the most highly-allocated wines in our entire portfolio.
