Petit Chablis, Raveneau's lightest and most fruit-forward expression, arrives from young vines (planted 2010) on the north plateau above Vaudésir, where Portlandian limestone—younger and harder than the famed Kimmeridgian soils below—creates wines of fresh immediacy. This 1.5L format makes it perfect for poolside entertaining or weeknight pasta dinners where nuance takes a backseat to joy. Minimal oak aging emphasizes pure, unoaked Chardonnay character: light straw color, lively acidity, and aromas of white flowers and subtle salinity that make you want to pour another glass. The 2023 is genuinely meant for current drinking, capturing vibrant fruit within a 2-3 year window of optimal freshness. This is entry-level Chablis that doesn't apologize for its simplicity—in fact, the beauty lies in the straightforward pleasure of cold limestone Chardonnay with absolutely nothing getting in the way of drinkability.

Antonio Galloni

88 points

"The 2023 Petit Chablis has notes of wet pavement on the nose. It's simple but effective. The palate is well balanced, with a touch of menthol on the entry. This has good depth and a hint of peppermint on the finish. Enjoy this over the next five years." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

91 points

"Derived from vines planted in 2010, just above the grands crus, Raveneau's 2023 Petit Chablis is showing very well, wafting from the glass with notes of pear, peach and orange zest. Textural and more fruit-driven in the context of the other wines in the range, it’s medium to full-bodied, bright and precise, concluding with a delicately chalky finish." —Kristaps Karklins

More about Raveneau

Undisputed greatest producer in Chablis. François established the domaine in 1948; his sons Bernard and Jean-Marie now run it. Raveneau pioneered barrel fermentation and extended lees contact in Chablis. Their Grand Cru holdings (Les Clos, Blanchots, Valmur) produce wines of mineral purity.
