Familie Johanneshof Reinisch in the Thermenregion (south and slightly west of Vienna—'the end of the Alps'—in Austria's DAC region) represents a fourth generation of family winegrowing in valued vineyard locations. Founded in 1923, the estate is now led by three brothers: Hannes (cellar since 1997), Christian, and Michael. At 40 hectares, Reinisch is widely considered the leading estate for red wine in the Thermenregion, with more than 50% of production focused on reds—an even split between Pinot Noir and Sankt Laurent. Converted to organic viticulture in 2004 and certified in 2010, this 2018 Holzspur Pinot Noir shows six-year maturity: ripe cherry and plum with emerging complexity. Ready now or age 3-5 years further.

WE 90
"Notes of cocoa and pepper frame the damson plum, dark cherry and licorice that linger on the core. Smoky elements emerge midpalate, while a wave of richness marks the finish."
