Grosses Gewächs (GG) is Germany’s answer to Grand Cru, and Von Winning’s Kieselberg 2022 is a model of the style: dry, deeply mineral, and built to age. The Kieselberg vineyard sits just above Deidesheim, with gravel and limestone soils that lend the wine its signature focus and drive.

The 2022 vintage is beautifully expressive: citrus oil, crushed herbs, wet stone, and a flicker of smoky reduction on the nose, followed by a tense, saline palate that hums with energy. There’s a slight creaminess from lees aging, but no softness—the finish is clean, long, and bracingly dry.

This is dry Riesling for Burgundy fans, for mineral lovers, and for anyone who wants a white wine that speaks fluently in texture and terroir. Drink now with a decant or hold for 10–15 years to let its layers evolve.
