Remirez de Ganuza, Trasnocho Rioja, 2014 [NET]
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Remírez de Ganuza is one of Rioja’s most forward-thinking estates, based in the village of Samaniego in Rioja Alavesa. Known for obsessive vineyard selection and innovation in the cellar, Trasnocho is a showcase bottling: made from the skins and juice remaining after initial free-run wine is drained, gently pressed overnight using a unique water bladder system to avoid harsh extraction—hence the name “trasnocho” (meaning “overnight”).
The 2014 vintage is bold and brooding, offering aromas of blackberry, cassis, tobacco leaf, cedar, and sweet spice. The palate is plush yet structured, with fine tannins, integrated oak, and a long, savory finish. A small addition of Viura and Malvasía lends subtle lift and aromatic complexity.
Aged for around 20 months in new French oak, this wine walks the line between tradition and modernity—ideal for fans of top Ribera del Dueros, modern Bordeaux, or contemporary Rioja Reservas. Decant now or cellar for another 10–15 years to watch it blossom.
