Romain le Bars, Le Clau VDF White, 2023
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Romain le Bars may be best known for his juicy, featherweight Rhône reds, but his whites are just as electric. Le Clau comes from old vines of Grenache Blanc and Clairette, grown on limestone soils near Tavel. As always, the farming is organic, the fermentations are spontaneous, and the winemaking is minimal—letting the vineyard do the talking.
The 2023 vintage is a gorgeous study in contrasts: it’s textural yet bright, with aromas of white peach, lemon peel, and fresh herbs, backed by a mineral core that feels almost Loire-like. There's no heavy oak or overripe fruit here—just natural energy, a slight savory edge, and a lovely, mouthwatering finish.
It’s the kind of white that can move between aperitif and meal seamlessly—delicate enough to sip on its own, but with enough substance to pair with richer dishes.
Pair with: grilled fish, herby salads, goat cheese, or anything involving citrus and olive oil.
