Brachetto d'Acqui is Piedmont's most playful wine—a fragile, lightly sparkling red that tastes like fresh red berries learned to dance. The Bologna family founded Braida in 1961, and began championing Brachetto d'Acqui in 1967, and their bottling is a masterclass in restraint: fine bubbles, delicate fruit, and the perfect bridge between still wine and champagne. The wine's signature sweetness isn't cloying; it's the taste of July raspberries and summer romance, finished with enough acidity to feel refreshing rather than heavy. This is the rarest wine pairing in the world: chocolate. Serve it chilled, slightly younger than you'd expect, and watch it transform casual occasions into celebrations.

More about Braida (Giacomo Bologna)

Giacomo Bologna revolutionized Barbera by bottling Bricco dell'Uccellone in 1985—single-vineyard, barrique-aged, low-yield Barbera that flipped the script from rustic to cellar-worthy overnight. His Montebruna shows concentration and aging potential. His children, Raffaella (sales/marketing) and Giuseppe (winemaker), now run Braida from Rocchetta Tanaro with state-of-the-art cellars. Legacy preserved and constantly pushed forward.
