Champagne Vouette & Sorbée represents the natural/biodynamic Champagne movement at its finest. Bertrand Gautherot began tending family vineyards in Buxières-sur-Arce in the Aube (Côte des Bar) in 1986. The domaine achieved Demeter-certified biodynamic status in 1998—remarkably early for Champagne—with first commercial releases in 2004. Blanc d'Argile is 100% Chardonnay from the Biaunes vineyard, planted in 2000 on calcareous Kimmeridgian soil (same as Chablis) with south-facing exposure. The Brut Nature classification means less than 3g/L residual sugar with no sugar added during dosage—requiring exceptional fruit quality. The "R22" indicates disgorgement date for tracking freshness. The Aube region, historically overshadowed by the Marne Valley, is now recognized for mineral precision and freshness. Expect majestic substance with enlightening finesse—the producer's own description capturing paradoxical power and delicacy. Ultra-fine perlage, stunningly integrated midpalate.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
