This is it—the flagship bottling from Le Clos du Caillou, and one of the true heavy-hitters of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. La Réserve is the kind of wine collectors chase and sommeliers geek out over—but you don’t need a PhD in Rhône wines to know it’s seriously delicious.

The 2022 shows off all the Clos du Caillou signatures: deep, layered Grenache and Mourvèdre fruit, wild Provençal herbs, exotic spices, and a texture that somehow feels both plush and powerful. It's rich but never heavy, with a long, silky finish that just keeps unfolding.

You can drink it now with a long decant (think roast lamb or mushroom lasagna if you're feeling fancy), but honestly? Give it a few years in the cellar and it'll turn into pure magic.

Perfect for: special occasions, gifting someone you really like, or treating yourself because honestly, you deserve it.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Réserve is another superstar from the talented team behind Le Clos du Caillou. A co-fermentation of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, the dazzling 2022 opens with pronounced licorice, cured meat, black plum, garrigue, rose petal and forest strawberry aromas. Peppery undertones add more spice to the mix. Touching the palate with ample concentration and a vertical sensation, the firm tannins call for at least five more years in bottle. Tasted twice with consistent notes." -Nicolas Greinacher

"Another strong contender for the wine of the vintage, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Réserve is a monument in the making. Revealing a deep, concentrated bouquet of dark cherries, violet, lilac, flowers and Indian spices, it's full-bodied, dense and deep, with structured, refined tannins and a fleshy core of rich, vibrant fruit, all leading to a long, saline finish. Deeper and more concentrated than Les Quartz, it is composed of 60% Grenache Noir and 40% Mourvèdre, handpicked on October 15th, co-fermented and matured for 14 months in large barrels." -Yohan Castaing

"Very full but not overly bulbous, with a big tannic base from the ripe Mourvèdre. Powerful, this has serious impact and intensity, it's long and undulating with a firm, dry finish. Really impressive and silky, with great detail of tannin and tangy raspberry acidity. Excellent. Resonant. Grown on sandy soils of lieux-dits La Guigasse and Pignan sud; matured mostly in demi-muids and some clay amphora."
