Thibaud Boudignon crafts this Chenin Blanc from a single parcel of 40-year-old vines in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, planted at exceptional density on volcanic rhyolite and grey schist soils. The shallow, mineral-rich terroir produces concentrated fruit that ferments with indigenous yeasts.

Starting with the 2021 vintage, Boudignon extends aging by two years to develop complexity. This approach creates a mouth-filling style with notable structure and grip uncommon in white wines, showcasing Chenin Blanc's ability to express serious terroir.

Thibaud Boudignon has gone through the three stages of small-producer cultdom. First, there were the tweets and instagram posts. Maybe a foreign blog or small magazine article. The allusions to his wine were rapturous, but enigmatic and mostly from overseas.

Then came phase two: devoted wine folk "suitcased" bottles home to America to share with friends. Word spread. The hunt was on.

Finally, phase three: importers started bringing small amounts straight to California and New York. Thanks guys!

Antonio Galloni

"Made from a small parcel in the village of Saint-Lambert, the 2022 Anjou Blanc à Francois(e) is a mouth-filling style without any heaviness. The generosity of the 2022 season has been curbed, and there's a nervousness and slightly reductive nature that keeps it tight. Expect an attractive sourness from the acidity and salinity. The finish has a nice twist of savory character with 20% new oak (500-liter and cigar format). Time is needed here to ameliorate." -Rebecca Gibb MW
