Graham's, Emperor Finest Old Tawny Port, NV (bottled in 1981)
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
I had a hunch and bought an old original full case. We tried it at a staff party in September 2024. It was the wine of the night! I asked my brilliant sommelier friend from Chambers, Pascaline Lepeltier M.O.F. She was going to visit Graham's in two days!
Graham's replied: "Grahams Emperor was a style of port made by Graham's until the mid 80's. It was a tawny style around 20 years old. At that time the ages tawny range was established and so the Emperor disappeared."
Pascaline further commented: "So, being a tawny style, it's not really meant to age in bottle. In any case, if it was stored in good conditions it should be enjoyable today. Probably it will be a bit faded but maybe has evolved into some reduction flavours."
