Whenever our favorite suppliers throw their once-yearly portfolio tastings, we get emails, texts and calls from our best customers wondering if we can get them on the guest list. We can't blame them: these tastings, always exclusively for the trade, are the supplier's opportunity to showcase their top producers in an intimate setting, and they're always a ton of fun. But the trade exclusivity is a hard and fast rule, and the answer has always been a sad "no"—until our friends at Banville Wine Merchants generously opened their doors to our customers for a special VIP consumer session, happening next week.

That event sold out quickly, to no one's surprise, and the Banville folks have been kind enough to extend another very cool invitation to our audience, this time to their U.S. and New World portfolio tasting. Also located at their offices in Murray Hill, this time on August 18 from 5-6:30pm, this VIP consumer tasting will feature wines by Sokol Blosser, Thomas Fogarty, and Maison Noir, new-wave Australian favorites William Downie and Barr-Eden, and more––take a look at the list below to see them all.

This is a non-comprehensive list––there will be many more cool bottles open on the day!

Astounding Assrytiko from Ancient Vines: Karamolegos's Santorini Trio

Artemis Karamolegos, born and raised on the island, is carrying on his family’s legacy at his eponymous winery. The focus is, without a doubt, Assyrtiko in all its glory and potential. Artemis owns some vineyards — most of which are over a hundred years old — and maintains good relationships with smaller growers.

Second Bite at the Apple: Picq Chablis 2022s

Now, if you're new to these newsletters, you might not know what all the fuss is about. The TL;DR is that the Picq family is among Chablis' great producers -- but one that has no grand cru vineyards, no blockbuster collectibles, and that therefore has stayed outside the field of vision of international collectors.
