Village Puligny from a domaine whose Puligny premiers crus and grand cru come off the same hill, drawn from four parcels and unmistakably the same hand. Puligny's calling card is tension: thin soil over hard limestone, and a high water table that keeps the vines cool and slows ripening, giving a Chardonnay that leans saline and citric where Chassagne down the road leans round. The Bachelet brothers press slowly, ferment with native yeasts in 350-liter barrels (bigger than standard, so oak flavor never intrudes), skip batonnage entirely, and finish the wine six months in tank. The cold, wet 2024 harvest was one of the smallest in living memory but produced the most classically shaped whites in a decade: lean-framed, high in acid, stony. Give it two or three years and drink it over the following five.

Antonio Galloni

92 points

"The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Village, a blend of four lieux-dits, has a brisk granitic nose that takes a few swirls to warm up. Just a little Chablis-like. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, now back into the Côte de Beaune stylistically with commendable weight towards the finish that lingers in the mouth. This will give a decade, possibly more, in terms of drinking pleasure." —Neal Martin

"Four different parcels in Corvee des Vignes, Les Meix, Noyer Bret and Les Houlieres. Tank sample. #13; Mid lemon. Quite shy on the nose and less broad-shouldered than the Chassagne-Montrachet. Again, great zesty, citrus-led acidity. Not opulent but medium- to full-bodied on the palate."

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Oysters, ceviche, grilled branzino, sole with lemon, or a salad of crab and avocado. Also very good with sushi and with fresh goat cheese.

Tasting Profile

Aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers and oyster shell. Lean and taut on the palate, dry and stony, with high, bright acidity and just enough weight behind it. Saline, persistent finish with the oak barely visible.
