Ronco della Chiesa is Nicola Manferrari's statement with Friulano, the grape variety that has made Borgo del Tiglio's reputation. This wine comes from a single vineyard in Brazzano, hand-tilled in the late 1950s, where brown marl soil and a mild microclimate sheltered from cold northeast winds allow the varietal to achieve remarkable complexity. Only 2,600 bottles are produced annually, aged 10 months in barrique at 13.5% alcohol. The 2023 vintage shows intense, clean varietal character with initial tropical notes that evolve through pear, apricot, and ripe peach, before drifting into mint, chamomile, and hints of green citrus. This is benchmark Friulano—proof that a single grape, with patient winemaking and the right site, can achieve sophistication that rivals Burgundian complexity.

It is soothingly round and pliant with ripe pit fruits contrasted by a reverberation of salty minerals and brisk acidity. Nicola Manferrari trained as a pharmacist, took over the family vineyard when his father died, and bottled his first wine in 1982. Now considered one of Friuli's original trailblazers, he makes brilliant, saline-infused whites that define what Collio can be.
