Vino Nobile spent decades being written off as a poor man's Brunello, which badly undersells it, and Boscarelli is the estate that makes the case most convincingly. Founded in 1961 by Egidio Corradi and run ever since by his De Ferrari descendants, now with brothers Luca and Nicolo in charge, the estate sits in the Cervognano district and has spent years mapping how each of its soils behaves: sand for soaring aromatics, clay for power, iron-rich red earth for structure and acidity. The classic Vino Nobile blends all of it, built around Sangiovese, known locally as Prugnolo Gentile, with a small share of complementary varieties. What you get is the nervy tension of Chianti with the darker, deeper fruit of Brunello, which is exactly the trick this appellation can pull off and nobody else can. Seamless and approachable now, with the stuffing to run another five to ten years.
