"The 2005 Barolo Vigneto Cannubi is one of the most surprising wines of the vintage. Dense, layered and absolutely exquisite, Burlotto's Cannubi is super-expressive today. The 2005 was aged in medium-size cask, which softens the contours and also gives the wine its suppleness. Plum, cherry, smoke and licorice add succulence throughout. The tannins, though, remain those of a year in which the fruit was picked slightly ahead of schedule. Still, this is a brilliant Barolo." -Antonio Galloni
