This is a Bordeaux blend from an unexpected corner of Sonoma, poured from a magnum with a decade of age behind it. Calluna sits in the Chalk Hill district and farms its estate to a distinctly Bordeaux-minded philosophy; the 2014 Estate Red leads with Cabernet Sauvignon rounded out by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a touch of Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged nearly two years in French oak. Now mature, it shows the savory, cedary complexity that time gives a well-structured Cabernet blend. The 1.5L format makes it a natural centerpiece for a dinner with a crowd, and it is drinking well today.
