This premier cru from the old vines of Narbantons represents Camus-Bruchon at its most serious and age-worthy. The south-facing exposure of Narbantons's clay-limestone soil produces wine with power, balance, and genuine complexity. The 2023 shows the rounder style typical of Savigny's southern slope—ripe spicy red fruits carried on a velvet texture, with tannins that promise 15+ years of development. Guillaume Camus, working the domaine since 1997, favors old vine intensity and mineral precision; these Narbantons parcels, planted nearly a century ago by his great-grandmother Reine Joly, are among his finest sites.

"The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Nanbartons 1er Cru comes across a little more closed compared to the other cuvées, gently unfolding with dark berry and briar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with good fruit concentration, gentle grip and fine balance. Bright raspberry and blackcurrant scents linger on the finish. Give this 12 months in bottle—this is a great Savigny." —Neal Martin

More about Camus-Bruchon

Guillaume Camus is one of the most sure-handed winemakers in the Côte de Beaune, based in Savigny-les-Beaune rather than the famous villages that command premium prices. His Chorey-lès-Beaune 'Le Grand Saussy' is fleshy and complex from the start, and it's one of the great bargains in red Burgundy. Hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, the fruit comes from organically farmed vines, and the result is brilliant wine at genuinely accessible prices. Chorey-lès-Beaune is the last bastion of affordable red Burgundy, and Camus-Bruchon is the reason.
