Channing Daughters, based in Bridgehampton, has always taken a more artisanal, experimental approach to Long Island wine, focusing on thoughtful blends, minimal intervention, and varietal expression. Rosso Fresco is exactly what it sounds like: a fresh, easy-drinking red, built for casual drinking and maximum versatility.

The 2021 vintage is based primarily on Merlot, with splashes of Syrah, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Franc, and Dornfelder, all vinified to highlight fruit purity and liveliness. It’s fermented with native yeasts and aged briefly to preserve brightness.

In the glass, it’s bursting with red berries, plum skin, and a hint of savory herbs. Light-bodied but flavorful, it’s the kind of wine you chill slightly and pour liberally—whether it’s pizza night, a picnic, or a beachside sunset.

It’s Long Island's answer to Beaujolais: joyful, unfussy, and crafted for pure pleasure.

Pair with: thin-crust pizza, grilled sausages, picnic spreads, or veggie skewers.

"A blend of 58% Merlot, 15% Dornfelder, 13% Blaufränkisch, 10% Refosco, 3% Syrah and 1% Teroldego, the 2021 Rosso Fresco Red Table Wine is a bit tarry, then hits attractive black olive Italianate notes and folds in ripe cherries. It's an easy-drinking, medium-bodied wine, juicy and fresh, with minimal tannins." —Joe Czerwinski
