Château Auney l’Hermitage is one of the most compelling under-the-radar producers in Graves, crafting wines of clarity and quiet depth from biodynamically farmed vineyards on the gravel-and-limestone soils just south of Bordeaux. Their ‘Cuvée Cana’ is a special white bottling, blending Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, fermented and aged in barrel for extra texture and aging potential.

The 2019 vintage shows the best of both varieties: bright citrus and grassy lift from the Sauvignon, married to the waxy, honeyed richness of old-vine Sémillon. Barrel aging brings a gentle frame of toast and spice, but it’s always in balance—the core remains taut, mineral, and precise. It’s the kind of white Bordeaux that feels both grounded in tradition and modern in its restraint.

A serious alternative to white Burgundy or Rhône whites, this is a wine that belongs on the dinner table—especially if the food’s rich, creamy, or full of aromatic herbs.

A 1ha parcel of gravel / clay / sand, with 50% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Muscadelle. It undergoes the same elevage as the basic cuvee, with 9 months in 4hl barrels (25% new). This is not a ‘flashy’ top cuvee – it carries more complexity than the basic cuvee, is very light on its feet, and is a classic expression of the terroir of the Graves district. Production runs around 4000 bottles per vintage.
