Château de Camensac, a historic Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification, has quietly built a reputation for producing serious, age-worthy Haut-Médoc at a relative bargain. Nestled near Saint-Julien’s border, the estate benefits from similar gravelly soils, which lend the wines their hallmark refinement and structure. The 2020 vintage, shaped by a warm growing season and a perfectly timed harvest, delivers a beautifully poised wine—ripe yet classically framed, with a precision that speaks to both terroir and careful winemaking.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2020 Chateau de Camensac has an attractive nose with ample red berry fruit, brown spices, cedar and light earthy aromas. The Merlot is very expressive here (47% of the blend). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and very well judged acidity. This is classic Haut-Madoc, cool and refined with a saline finish that gets the saliva flowing. One of the best wines from the estate in recent years. Highly recommended." -Vinous

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2020 Cantemerle has turned out well in bottle, offering up aromas of rich black fruits, plums, pencil shavings and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with ripe, powdery structuring tannins and a nicely defined finish, it's generous and expressive while remaining classically proportioned." -William Kelley

"Barrel Sample. Dense tannins and dark chocolate flavors already highlight the wine's texture. That's at the expense of some of the fruitiness that should be in the background. This suggests it will develop with a dry core that will need to soften." -Roger Voss
