Château L'Arrosée was a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, first classified in June 1955 and maintaining that status through 2012. Named after an underground spring on the property. In 1868, it belonged to Pierre Magne, minister to Napoleon III. The estate comprised 9.5 hectares on limestone and clay soil on the southern slopes of Saint-Emilion, planted to 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Note: The estate no longer exists as a separate label—it was purchased by Domaine Clarence Dillon (owners of Haut-Brion) in July 2013 and merged into Château Quintus. This 1998 is a piece of Bordeaux history.

Robert Parker

86 points

"Scents of overripe red cherries, along with a boatload of toasty new oak are present in this delicate, lacy, medium-bodied St.-Emilion. A 90-point nose is followed by 82-point flavors, hence the score. This 1998 should drink well for 12-14 years." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.
