A quarter-century on, this 2000 L'Arrosée drinks at full maturity — and serves as a snapshot of a Saint-Émilion estate now lost to history. Perched on the southwestern côtes, L'Arrosée was held by the Rodhain family in 2000 (François Rodhain managed it from 1957 to 2002); the Caille brothers bought it in August 2002, and the estate was then sold to Domaine Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion) in July 2013, after which it was absorbed into Château Quintus (2012 was the final L'Arrosée-labeled vintage). The 2000 vintage predates all of that turbulence, capturing the historic L'Arrosée at its peak in one of the great modern Right Bank vintages. Fully mature now: cedar, dried red fruits, leather, tobacco, and the suave côte-grown texture that built the estate's reputation. Drink over the next several years.

Robert Parker

88 points

"The resurgence of l’Arrosee that we’ve seen over the last four or five years is not apparent in the 2000. It has matured quickly, revealing an orange/rust color at its rim. Notes of earth, herbes de Provence, black cherries, red currants, and dusty, loamy soil undertones are present in this elegant, fully mature, medium-bodied 2000. Drink it over the next 5-7 years." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.
