Chateau Senejac is one of the Haut-Medoc's most reliable Cru Bourgeois estates, and since 1999 it has been in the hands of the Cordier family of Chateau Talbot, run with the same rigorous attention as that St-Julien classed growth. This is a classic left-bank blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot. The 2009 is one of Bordeaux's great ripe, opulent vintages, and here it comes in magnum — the slow-aging format that has carried it gracefully. At fifteen-plus years it's mature and generous, ready to pour for a crowd.

Robert Parker

93 points

"This is a major sleeper of the vintage and the finest Senejac I have tasted. The team from Pontet Canet, who have done such a phenomenal job at that estate, were in charge of making this Senejac, and the result, not surprisingly, is a sensational wine that consumers need to buy by the case. Dense purple, with notes of creme de cassis, incense, licorice and forest floor, this wine is delicious and full-bodied, with sweet tannins, low acidity, copious fruit and exceptional concentration. Everything is in balance, and the wine is capable of lasting 10 or more years." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Wine Spectator

90 points

"Berry and earthy, spicy character. Toasted oak. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. A little hollow."
