Antonio Galloni

93 points

"Light gold. Complex and powerful, with smoky scents of grilled hazelnut, buttered toast, ripe pear and floral honey. This is exceptionally rich but the honeyed orchard fruit flavors are vivid and racy. Finishes with vibrant, concentrated notes of fresh fig and bergamot. A superb all-chardonnay Champagne that should age exceptionally well." —Josh Raynolds

More about Corbon

Claude Corbon, a third-generation grower, started bottling his own wines in 1971 instead of selling to the cooperative. His daughter Agnès took over in 2006 and has quietly built something real—six hectares split between the Vallée de la Marne and Avize, farmed with minimal intervention, bottled with conviction. These are grower Champagnes in the best sense: they taste like the vineyard, like the year, not like a house style imposed from above.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
