Cose, Champagne Perseval CMY La Pucelle Brut Nature, NV [2023]

$129.99
Use code 10OFF to get 10% off 12+ bottles

From a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, this single-vineyard Champagne is 100% Pinot Noir from the lieu-dit La Pucelle—a rare expression of place that strips away blending to reveal pure terroir. Perseval-Farge has operated in Chamery since 1808 and farms just 4 hectares with organic certification. Brut Nature (no dosage) means nothing masks the vine's expression. The estate is also notable for preserving ancient Champagne varieties like Arbanne, Petit Meslier, and Fromentot in other cuvées—a commitment to Champagne's viticultural heritage that infuses everything they do. Rare and distinctive.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Polaner Selections has to say about this wine:

Varietal Notes100% MeunierBiodynamicPracticingVineyardFrom a single parcel in Chamery 1er Cru, planted in 1960 at the bottom of the slope.OrientationSouth east facing, at the bottom of the slope.SoilA mixture of sand and limestone, typical of the Petite MontagneViticultureCertified Demeter biodynamic and organic (in the EU)VinificationPressed at Champagne Perseval by Thomas Perseval according to his press cycle using a vertical Coquard basket press. The juice is collected by Champagne Cose without sedimentation and without SO2 and brought back to the winery in Chouilly. The must goes directly into used 225 liter barrel sourced from Jaques Selosse, which are between 2nd and 5th use, from a mix of French coopers. Fermentation is natural, but a pied de cuve may be added to encourage the wine to finish completly dry. Malolactic happens naturally, but not to every barrel each year and SO2 is added to the barrels only if absolutly necessary. Elevage lasts until late July or Early August when the wines are bottled with a prise de mousse under cork. After 18-24 months sur latte, the bottles are disgorged.Aging18-24 months surlattes; zero dosage; Disgorged July 31,2025; released November 2025

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
