Most Madeira is a blend of years. Colheita is the exception: a single harvest, aged in cask and bottled on its own, with the vintage right there on the label. This one is 2008, from Cossart Gordon, a house that has been in the Madeira business since 1745. Medium dry means a touch of sugar remains, which softens the edges without turning it into a dessert wine. Pour it lightly chilled before dinner or after it, whichever mood strikes. And like all Madeira, it will happily sit open on your counter for months. The 500ml format is a friendly way in.
