Cool-climate Tasmanian Pinot from one of the island's most established vineyards. Dalrymple was founded in Pipers River in 1987 by Bertel and Anne Sundstrup and acquired by the Hill-Smith family (of Yalumba) in 2007. The northeastern corner of Tasmania, with its sloping hills overlooking Bass Strait, has emerged as one of the southern hemisphere's most exciting Pinot zones — and Dalrymple is among the producers proving the point. The 2022 blends estate Pipers River fruit with parcels from Coal River and Ouse for added complexity. Winemaking is classical and patient: hand sorting, cold soak, whole-bunch inclusion, hand plunging, wild fermentation, and nine months in French oak (about 20% new). The result is dark-fruited but lifted, structured but supple — a serious Pinot at an honest pitch.
