A parcel in Romanée-Saint-Vivant directly opposite the legendary Romanée-Conti itself, tended by Géraldine Godot at Domaine de l'Arlot with the same biodynamic rigor and whole-cluster precision that define her house. Fifteen months in French oak (40% new) followed by tank refinement allows black cherry, iodine, violet, rose, and peony to emerge with elegant definition. The wine's svelte tannins and killer acidity announce a wine built for the cellar—30+ years of evolution lie ahead. Wood case presentation marks this as a collector's wine, destined for serious cellaring rather than casual enjoyment.

"The 2023 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet that blossoms in the glass. Dark cherries, touches of violet and iodine just soar with aeration—wonderfully delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and a killer line of acidity, very harmonious through the linear and poised finish. This is quite understated for an RSV. Lovely." —Neal Martin

More about Domaine de l'Arlot

For several decades now the Domaine de L'Arlot has been following its own path to creating wines that reflect both the subtleties of diverse terroirs and a distinct "house style" that is unique in Burgundy. The Domaine is located in Premeaux, on the southern most edge of the Cotes-de-Nuits where Nuits-St-Georges tends to resemble Chambolle in elegance and perfume.

In 2015 the very talented Geraldine Godot was given full control of the domaine. She is committed to continuing the traditions of the house including biodynamic farming and a high percentage of whole clusters during fermentation. However she is making small changes, using less extraction and less new oak to achieve even more balance and grace.

The heart of the Domaine's holdings are two 1er Cru monopoles in Nuits-Saints-Georges: Clos de L'Arlot and Clos des Forets. These vineyards produce some of the most elegant wines in Nuits and are perfect examples of the finesse and purity of terroir that L'Arlot achieves.

They also have small parcels of vines in two of the top vineyards in Vosne-Romanée: Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Suchots. These blue chip wines are complimented by a range of excellent values from the Haut-Cotes and other sites surrounding Nuits.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Cellaring is the priority, but when opened, pair with aged beef, venison, or game birds with dark cherry or herb-forward sauces. This wine's acidity and mineral edge demand food with substance.
