Single-vineyard Chenin Blanc from one of the Loire's most sought-after producers. Le Bourg: just 1.07 hectares of sandy-clay over tuffeau limestone in Brézé, vines planted in the early 1940s. Romain Guiberteau took over in 1996 after the family vineyard lease ended—first vintage 1997 under mentorship of Nady Foucault (Clos Rougeard). 19.4 hectares total estate. Whole-cluster pressed, spontaneous fermentation, malolactic blocked to preserve acidity. 11-12 months in used barrels. AB certified organic since 2007.

When Romain Guiberteau left law school in 1996 to take over his family's vines near Saumur, he became one of Loire's brightest lights. He farms organically (certified since 2007), makes only Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, and isn't afraid to push both grapes into unexplored territory. His wines have punk-rock intensity wrapped in classical elegance.
