Biodynamic since 2006—Guillaume d'Angerville produces some of the finest wines in the Côte d'Or. This unusual vineyard can be labeled Meursault (for Chardonnay) or Volnay (for Pinot Noir). The domaine's 1.05-hectare parcel was planted in 1905—119-year-old vines contributing mineral complexity. Saline minerality with chalky structure, dry and very fruity with persistent hazelnut bouquet. The most "Volnaysien" of Meursault's climats—broad, powerful yet punchy.

Antonio Galloni

90 points

"The 2023 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru is quite effervescent on the nose with finely delineated Satsuma, orange zest and just a hint of nectarine. The palate is well balanced with, again, a slightly honeyed texture. It is less acidic than the 2022 and almost creamy toward the finish. Enjoy this very seductive Meursault over the next five or six years." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

92 points

"Offering up aromas of pear, orange zest and freshly baked bread, the 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Santenots is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a succulent, charming profile. More immediate than its 2022 predecessor, this will drink well young." —William Kelley

Decanter

94 points

"Guillaume d'Angerville farms more than a hectare of white grapes in Santenots, originally planted with Chardonnay by his grandfather in 1905. He maintains the tradition in fine form, and the 2023 is a delight, with ripe, buttery apple fruit aromas and a hint of hazelnut. The texture is rich and supple, luxurious rather than racy, yet this wine will begin to open in three to five years but should also have the substance to age for the long term." —Charles Curtis MW

More about Domaine Marquis d'Angerville

Volnay's archetypal name-producer for over a century, Marquis d'Angerville remains one of Burgundy's most consistent voices. These Pinot Noirs sit in the sweet spot between aromatic seduction and structural power—wines that open gracefully and age beautifully. The domaine's vineyard holdings represent some of Volnay's finest sites. Classic stuff, made the traditional way by people who know the terroir intimately—and it still works.
