A village Chambolle hiding inside a Premier Cru name. Les Cras is best known as a Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, but there's a village-tier section sitting just above the classified parcels — and this is the bottling Rion makes from it. East-facing, halfway up the hill, with shallow clay studded with crushed limestone, it produces a Chambolle of real elegance at a village price. Patrice and Michèle Rion launched the domaine in 1990; their son Maxime now runs winemaking, and his touch with Chambolle is consistently delicate. 2023 played to the village's strengths — perfume, lift, polished tannins. Drink over the next decade.
