From the tenth generation of vignerons in his family, Stéphane Rousset produces this 100% Syrah from 40-50-year-old vines on the granite hillsides of Erôme, Gervans, and Crozes. This is no ordinary Crozes-Hermitage: it appears austere when opened but reveals remarkable depth—a fabulous Hermitage-like expression of red currant and blackberry fruit layered with stone and mineral. Cherry liqueur aromas, earth, citrus, and powdered stone lead to a palate with grainy mineral and earth flavors finishing with blackberry, red currant, and fabulous length. Cellaring potential is excellent.
