Clarete is the old, regional way Ribera del Duero made wine before it became famous for big reds — white and red grapes from old field-blend vines, co-fermented together, somewhere between a rose and a light red. Finca Torremilanos, the first Demeter-certified biodynamic estate in the appellation, makes this 'Ojo Gallo' from a single old-vine vineyard, unfiltered and with minimal intervention. 'Ojo Gallo' is the traditional name for the rose's coppery color. It's a fascinating, food-friendly throwback. Serve it cool, even with a slight chill.

Founded in 1903, Finca Torremilanos is the second-oldest winery in what's now Ribera del Duero, and in 2015 they became the first Demeter-certified biodynamic estate in the appellation. Pilar Pérez Albéniz leads with her sons Ricardo and Vicente, crafting Riojas that honor tradition while looking forward. This is Spanish wine made thoughtfully.
