Fine Disregard is the two-person California project of Mike Schieffelin and Kara Marden — the name lifted from a plaque about the rugby player who, 'with a fine disregard for the rules,' picked up the ball and ran. That's the spirit here: minimalist winemaking, native-yeast ferments, neutral vessels, and a hunt for old vineyards most Napa producers overlook. This Carignan is fermented and aged hands-off to let cool-climate, old-vine fruit speak for itself. Bright, savory, and food-friendly. Drink it slightly cool.
