Three of our absolute favorite New York wineries will join us for a panel discussion and tasting on the topic of sustainability. While you'll often hear that sustainable winegrowing in New York's cool climate is difficult (or even impossible), these three excellent producers are undeterred, making it work with innovative approaches in the vineyard and cellar.

On Thursday, February 26 at 6pm on our mezzanine, representatives Oskar Bynke of Hermann J. Wiemer, James Christopher Tracy of Channing Daughters and Mary-Kate Badalamenti of Boundary Breaks will have a lively discussion on sustainable winegrowing and winemaking as they take us through their wines. This is an unprecedented chance to hear from three of the state's top producers, while tasting their wines, on how they make smart winegrowing work in a tough climate.

This class is in celebration of NY Wines Sustainable Wine Week. All three featured wineries are members of the NY Sustainable Winegrowing certification program.

We will taste a generous lineup of Riesling, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and more from these three star producers. Seating is very limited. The cost of this seminar is $40, which will include a $20 store credit that can be applied to a future purchase. We hope you can join us Thursday, February 26 at 6pm on the mezzanine for this very special event.

Tuscan Greatness from an Under-the-Radar Appellation: Dei's Vino Nobile

Tuscan Greatness from an Under-the-Radar Appellation: Dei's Vino Nobile

Caterina Dei is an artist, a singer. She studied music in Siena, performed on stage in Milan, and recorded albums. She still sings, but we know her through her work at her family winery in Tuscany’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Dei. (Check out our Blog post Marvels on the Margins: Part 2 - Vino Nobile di Montepulciano! for more info on the region)

Caterina says that her love and labor in one sphere has deepened her love and appreciation of the other, and that that shouldn’t be a surprise. In her words: "Music and wine speak the same language — the language of the senses." Her wines are devoted to harmony and beauty, and you can taste both in this 2021.

A Pair of Super Fresh Bairrada Beauties from Filipa Pato

Bairrada is one of Portugal’s many small, relatively unknown regions. In some ways, it’s quite Burgundian — there is one dominant red grape variety (Baga) and one white (Bical); the wines made here are generally quite balanced in terms of alcohol, acidity, and body; there’s a bustling trade in sparkling wine, though these bubbles are overshadowed by the still options; and there’s a lot of limestone in the soils here in Central Portugal.

A Bouquet in a Bottle: Laherte Frères' Fan-Favorite Rosé de Meunier

A Bouquet in a Bottle: Laherte Frères' Fan-Favorite Rosé de Meunier

If there’s ever a moment to pop a luxurious bottle of pink bubbles, Valentine’s Day makes a pretty compelling case. And nothing delivers quite like Laherte Frères’ stunning Rosé de Meunier. Based on the ripe, juicy 2022 vintage, this 100% Pinot Meunier is a beautiful, savory, deep magenta-colored charmer bursting with fresh wild strawberry and tart cherry tones wrapped around a finely chiseled, mouthwatering mineral core.
